The True Grit Bike Ride is an Open Course Ride
Riders must obey all Traffic Laws and Regulations!
Follow the Law
Your safety and the image of cyclists depend on it. You have the same rights and responsibilities as drivers. Stop at red lights and stop signs. Ride with traffic and use the right most lanes that heads in the direction you are going. “Share the Road”.
Make sure drivers and other cyclists know what you are doing. Ride in a straight line, signal your turns, and check behind you before changing lanes.
Ride so drivers can see you, wear visible clothing. Make eye contact with drivers.
Anticipate what drivers, pedestrians, and other cyclists are going to do next. Watch for turning vehicles and for opening car doors. Look out for debris, potholes, and utility covers in the road.
Check to see you have proper air pressure in your tires, your brakes are working properly, and your drive train runs smoothly. Carry repair and emergency supplies appropriate to the length of your ride. Wear your helmet at all times.
